1964
Hikmet Özer was apprenticed to a car repair shop in the industrial area after finishing primary school. He worked there as an apprentice and journeyman until the age of 18. While Hikmet was working in the car repair workshop, his older brother Necati Özer was also in the industrial area, dealing in used tractor trading and scrap metal. The turning point in the brothers' working lives happened at Necati Özer’s shop. Hikmet Özer built and sold a disc harrow made from parts collected from his brother’s scrapyard. With the money earned from this sale, he bought materials for two more disc harrows and continued production. Hundreds, even thousands of machines would follow.
1969
The Growth of the Company
During these years, the company expanded its product range by manufacturing disc machines, cultivators, sugar beet lifter forks, and other agricultural equipment. By establishing its own foundry and disc production workshop, it became almost a self-sufficient force within the industry.
1980
The Establishment of Köylü Tarım
The year 1980 was a turning point. The brothers went their separate ways. Hikmet Özer opened his new 150 m² shop in Karatay Industrial Zone and wholeheartedly chose a name for his business: Köylü Tarım. “We serve the farmers, so our name will be Köylü,” he said, summarizing the spirit of the brand in a single sentence. In the early years, he produced disc harrows, oneway plows, and sugar beet harvesting machines.
1989
The Involvement of the Second Generation
When Ahmet Özer, who had graduated from vocational high school, took over in 1989, his father decided to resume cultivator production. Ahmet Özer mastered mold making and quickly expanded production capacity. In 1991, Mustafa Özer also joined. The dealership network expanded, and a strong collaboration with Pankobirlik began.
1995
The Great Leap and the Factory
In 1995, Köylü Tarım became a Limited Company. A 4,000 m² plot was purchased in the Konya Organized Industrial Zone, and in 1997, it moved into a modern factory. Hikmet Özer handed over management to his sons, saying, “That’s all from me… Grow it or let it fail.” The new generation took the helm with big dreams and strong steps.
2000
The Door to the World
In 2000, they participated in their first international fair in Kenya. This was followed by fairs in Egypt and Ukraine. In 2001, the first export to the USA took place. In 2004, a large-scale shipment was made to Azerbaijan, and entry into the Russian market was achieved. Köylü Tarım had now become a brand serving not only Turkey’s farmers but farmers around the world.
2005
Technological Transformation and Loss
In 2005, mechanical hoe production evolved into rotary hoe technology. In 2009, rotavator production began. However, in the same year, the company’s founder, Hikmet Özer, passed away. He left behind a work ethic that never compromised its principles and a deep-rooted legacy.
2025
Present – Towards the Future
Today, Köylü Tarım offers a wide range of products, from hoeing machines to vertical tillers, from rotavators to straw choppers, with its 4,000 m² production area and a team of 40 specialists. It continues to strengthen its presence not only in the domestic market but also in exports. Drawing strength from its past, it moves forward into the future with confident steps.
